another step on her way to her new life

One more note: Several have noticed that lately Mom has not been engaging in conversation like she used to. She used to give her all to others, asking about answers to prayer when we forgot to tell her, etc. She would amaze us with her memory. Now, she just sits and stares, with the occasional or frequent tear coming down her cheek. As our friend Nan wrote a short while ago, "She has definitely retreated further from the life around her, another step on her way to her new one." Nan, along with others, has seen Mom on a weekly basis. She commented that the change in Mom lately has been the greatest she has ever seen since she has been visiting Mom.

The hospice nurse commented that dehydration and lack of nutrition can cause lack of mental acuity. Again, our hearts are breaking because this is something that seems to be beyond Mom's ability any more. Her nurses help her round the clock to try to get her to sip one more sip, take one more drink. Friends and family come and encourage. Tim's sister Lisa helped to suction out Mom's throat yesterday and noted that the entire back of Mom's throat is all white with the yeast infection. She says it looks really sore. This is so hard to hear, that the medicine does not seem to be working on the infection and Mom can't swallow.

We know the Lord will carry Mom as He always has. We cry out to Him at this time.
