Thank you for praying for us. Some have commented that they are praying for God's peace and mercy for Mom. We believe God is answering those prayers!
We see God's hand of mercy in mysterious ways. One way I just noticed is that Mom, who usually is so sharp with every memory, is beginning to forget even who just came to visit her. Last night before leaving Mom's nursing home, I was talking to Kathy who came by, and mentioned to her that Mom did not remember some of her very special visits of the last week when I brought them up. That was at first disappointing to me, of course, but then it dawned on me, "if she is forgetting BIG things like her special friends and family, then God must surely be helping her to forget her 'light and momentary afflictions', as in the following Scripture portion:
2 Corinthians chapter 4: 16 "So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."
